Abilities: First and foremost, Emille's abilities are granted to her by way of technology. Thanks to a colony of nanomachines lying within her, centering around her heart, she is capable of manipulating and combusting fire without an outside source and is able to heal herself at an accellerated rate.
Pyrokinesis - Within a radius of twenty feet, Emille can create a burst of flame via either a simple light [much like a flame on a lighter] or by an explosion. The reaction is caused by her own internal nanomachines moving outside her body and combining together, half self-destructing to create a spark and flame, half sustaining the fire by continually feeding it with the energy it needs so that no tinder is required. Much like the flame, combustions can be conjured in this space, and are capable of a wide breadth of strengths, from a slight airy puff to being equal to a small propane tank exploding. Over time, she's been able to manipulate the fire and combustions well enough to control it in any way she so chooses.
Healing Factor - The nanomachines have a primary function above being able to conjure flames. The ulterior motive is to keep the body at full health and in peak physical condition. The nanomachines wipe out any and all disease that enters the body, and even break down certain types of "junk," including alcohol, nicotine, processed sugars, et cetera, so that there's no harmful effect on the body.
Flaws/weaknesses: Though she can recover from a great many wounds, she's vulnerable to one thing: Electromagnetic waves. They cause her nanomachines to malfunction, oftentimes failing on the spot. A strong enough EMP can disable the colony of machines within her for days at a time. Though they can restart over time, the downtime can leave Emille's body incredibly weak, as without their constant support, Emille's body goes through withdrawal, as it's no longer able to sustain itself anywhere near as well as before.
History/background: Born and raised in Chicago to a quarter-German father and a very French mother, she was a child prodigy in music. Her parents, both musicians themselves, gave her a violin at an incredibly young age, around three or four - no one in the family can recall exactly when - and, within three years, she had managed a rather impressive skill with it. As she was continually cycled through instruments, such as piano, trumpet, clarinet, guitar, and so forth, she managed a reasonable skill in a wide array of instruments. It wasn’t until she were ten that she found her favorite instrument of all: the double bass. The low tone, the use of rhythm, and the complete control of the flow of the song attracted her a great deal. She’d found an instrument she was happy to play.
Throughout school, she made generally high marks, but she was more known for her musical talent. Getting into the Seattle scene fairly early on, she picked up on the formulating days of modern Indie and grunge, which would shape her very tastes and style for years to come. She’d stretch her collection to be incredibly varied, from old Frank Zappa and Larry Graham to Rush and The Beatles to more contemporary artists like RHCP and Victor Wooten. She’d gathered a collection of literally thousands of albums, of which she normally would never be able to get through... but with her sound system and hooking up five CDs to run in circuit, changing every CD with the next line after each run, she had music running at all hours of the day. She was absolutely absorbed.
At the age of sixteen, she was already a professional musician, hired as a stand-in for various local groups, having her switch to a standard electric bass; the conversion was seamless for her. At the age of seventeen, she had met and started dating her first and only boyfriend, a charming asshole who had similar tastes in music.
Shortly before her graduation, in the middle of the night, an unknown group kidnapped her from her home and drugged her. All Emille remembers is a needlepoint in her neck and a few mumbled words that, to this day, she still can’t make out. Returned to her home after a few days, she wakes up with little to no recollection of what actually occurred, only a hypnosis-induced memory of being out all weekend partying with her friends. She never made a mention of it to anyone, simply because the events were so hazy. She figured she’d embarrassed herself all throughout that time, which is why no one really gives her a second look; just better to not tell the girl who got wasted off her ass, right?
On the night of her graduation, she had orchestrated one giant party just for the new graduates. As it winded down, she decided to take to her room to gather a few more CDs to play for everyone, something nice and obscure. Of course, what she instead found was her boyfriend in mid-thrust of an affair with another girl. Emille, understandably miffed, withdrew the nearest bludgeoning item [a microphone stand] and took a swing at both of them. As the two half-naked cheaters scared the remaining partygoers off, along with Emille’s angered swinging of the stand, she cornered her soon-to-be ex and lobbed a bottle of vodka right at him. Drenching him in the stuff, her emotions rose to such an extreme level that her powers were finally awakened. He erupted into flames, much to her shock, and, as she would later find out in a news article, suffered full-body third degree burns.
That night, upon the shock of possibly killing the only person she ever thought she loved, she immediately packed her bags and high-tailed it out of there. Over the course of the next three years, she had managed a few semesters of college courses in several campuses, surviving on music gigs. Having left almost her entire collection behind [aside from a handful of CDs that she never has out in viewable public], she kept the same collection of clothes with her, aside from updating into pinstripe suits and a few dress shirts.
Shortly after packing her bags, she fell upon a local article, the "Weird News" section of the Chicago paper. Apparently, reports of a man robbing a convenience store utilizing, instead of traditional weaponry, high-pressure water streams appearing from his hands, were coming in from New York City. She had the needlemark on her neck and the article... The only place she had to go was New York City.
Personality: Emille likes to put on a cool, suave exterior. She does her best to maintain this facade, keeping her temper down and her anxiety at low levels, and does generally a good job of fooling people into thinking she's really got everything covered, that nothing bothers her. In reality, though, she tends to worry. She worries about her music, she worries about her relationships with people, she worries about the abilities she has and when something's going to go horribly wrong. Tending to keep at arm's length of many people, she sticks herself in a bit of a "loner" style, which simply causes her more stress, and eventually caves, moving back into someone's arms. It's difficult to gauge when she's going to be close or distant with someone, as it all depends on what's worrying her mind at the time.
Background setting: Emille comes from a world much like Earth. A parallel where the supernatural tends to be quite natural. Vampires are somewhat well known, angels and demons are spotted to have been walking the earth, and even dragons have been spotted flying in certain parts of the world. Of course, it's all very hush hush... The population of these mythical beings is dangerously low, and easy for the governments of the world to hide, if they so choose. Emille sticks to places like New York City, any bustling metropolis where she can get a decent-sized hotel, go to a seedy dive, and play some music or stand in for a band's failing member.
Physical description: 5'11", 130-140 lbs, scrawny. Blonde hair, cropped short, a boyish face, blue eyes. <a href="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b161/Anderjak/Agyness%20Deyn/3235112006vogueitalylefvl7.jpg>One example...</a> She tends to favor suits and ties, alongside a fedora and one-inch heel dress boots. Conversely, she's also been known to wear more punk wear, like tank tops, form-fitting ripped jeans, and old sneakers.
